Sea patrol leads to discovery of cocaine off coast of Mahahual

Mahahual, Q.R. — Personnel from the marina report the seizure of nearly 30 kilos of cocaine found in waters off the coast of Mahahual. The finding was made by infantry personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) during a patrol.

According to information from Semar, naval personnel were carrying out security patrols along the shores of Mahahual when they visualized at 21 nautical miles (39 kilometers) a white wrapped bundle floating in the sea.

Upon inspection, authorities found its contents contained 30 packages of cocaine that amounted to 29.9 kilos.
