Roadside check stops part of increased vacation security for Mahahual

Mahahual, Q.R. — Foot patrols and now roadside check stops have become part of the increased security in and around Mahahual. On Thursday, the SSC of Quintana Roo reported on the reinforced security actions that involved vehicle inspections.

“On Thursday, the SSC reinforces surveillance with preventive tours in the tourist areas of the south of the state. On this occasion the police elements went to the town of Mahahual,” they said.

“During the tours, police established surveillance with the RZR units in businesses located in the tourist area as well as ATMs, gas stations and within the community. The surveillance was to deter high-impact crimes such as the sale of narcotics, possession of weapons of fire and muggings,” they added.

During the summer holiday season, police have increased surveillance around all municipalities. Both foot patrols and vehicle monitoring has been increased across the state to ensure safety by deterring crime.
