Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Residents of Puerto Aventuras reported loud explosions coming from a new real estate development. The explosions were reported southwest of the town early Saturday. They requested the intervention of municipal authorities to verify the conditions under which the work is being carried out.
Residents made the report to the Municipal Civil Protection Secretariat, requesting intervention since the powerful explosions are reported to have shaken numerous buildings including one hotel. Neighbors have asked authorities to verify permits from the Ministry of National Defense were granted for the company to be able to use explosive devices.
The real estate project has faced opposition from Puerto Aventuras residents in the past, who successfully blocked at least one of the company’s construction projects. The development is also facing legal action over an alleged title dispute on a section of the land.
