Next door residents set a burn that became out of control.

Due to dry conditions and wind gusts, firemen were assisted by CAPA who arrived with additional water truck to put out the burning vegetation in the Parque Industrial neighborhood.

According to authorities, the fire started in the lot next door by residents around 6:30 p.m. and quickly spread to the neighboring FGE property. Firemen were on scene for several hours working to fully put the fire out.

CAPA reported that it deployed hydraulic equipment and water trucks to support the State Civil Protection Coordination and the Othón P. Blanco Fire Department. Firemen were still on scene at 10:00 p.m. battling flames.

In a statement Saturday, the FGE said “on Friday afternoon, a fire was recorded in a part of the corralón of FGE, which was quickly under control thanks to the coordinated and timely work of firefighters.

“The fire originated from a burning, apparently by residents of a adjacent property, who had delimited the area, however, because of the strong winds, the flames spread and reached part of the corral.

“The Prosecutor’s Office confirms that there are no injured people and that fire personnel have completely suffocated fire without any risk for the population. Likewise, the necessary measures will be taken to demarcate responsibilities.”
