Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Five people were arrested Thursday during a narcotics police operation at Puerto Aventuras. On Friday, the Public Ministry of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) in Quintana Roo announced the results of their Thursday operation in coordination with the National Guard.
Elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency were part of the search team of the Puerto Aventuras property that lead to the five arrests. The property was searched after an ongoing investigation, derived from a citizen complaint, lead them to successfully obtaining a warrant.
In the complaint, police were told of drug sales “in front of the Riviera Maya Dolphinarium where there is a ranch that adjoins the beach to where drugs regularly arrive, which is guarded by armed people,” the FGR detailed.
On site, police arrested five males. They also seized 104 kilos of marijuana, a 9mm-caliber pistol-type firearm, cartridges of the same caliber, two shotgun-type game weapons and two rifle-type firearms and ammo, as well as five vehicles and two motorcycles.
