Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Puerto Aventuras has celebrated its fourth year as an independent town with its own mayor. On Tuesday, Puerto Aventuras Mayor Gilberto Gómez celebrated his four years of heading the town.
“Four years ago we embarked on this journey with immense enthusiasm, and today I see the tireless efforts of everyone involved come to fruition. My eternal gratitude to the citizens for their trust and to the authorities who provide us with their invaluable support.
“I feel profound pride in what we have achieved together, shoulder to shoulder. This progress has been possible thanks to the support and confidence of our Mayor, Estefanía Mercado, to whom I am deeply grateful. It was a pleasure to have Municipal Trustee Agustín Aguilar join us on her behalf,” Mayor Gilberto Gómez said.

José Agustín Aguilar Méndez, who stood in for municipal mayor Estafania Mercado, said Tuesday night during the ceremony said “Puerto Aventuras is a hardworking, supportive and proud community made up of families, young people and merchants who contribute daily to the development of the municipality,”
During the ceremony, Aguilar Méndez noted that the government of Playa del Carmen maintains as its central axis governing by putting the people at the center, with honesty, closeness and results.
He also acknowledged the work of Mayor Gilberto Gómez, as well as the presence of honorary president Eduardo Asensio, members of the City Council, councilors and municipal officials.
Puerto Aventuras is part of the municipality of Playa del Carmen. Gilberto Gómez became the mayor of Puerto Aventuras in December of 2021.
With an independent mayor, it became possible to overcome the historical backlog and consolidate a new stage of coordinated work with the municipal government of Playa del Carmen.
