Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A rear end collision between two buses left one driver dead in Puerto Aventuras Sunday. The SSC (Secretariat of Citizen Security) reported the accident off Calzada Avenue when one bus rear-ended another.
One of the bus drivers was killed when his unit was hit while he was attending to a mechanical issue in the rear of his bus. The accident happened Sunday afternoon in Puerto Maya where the hit bus was found pushed up onto the central median.
According to early information, the driver of one of the buses hit the back of a parked bus in a rear end near where a driver was inspecting a mechanical issue. The impact launched the parked bus forward, running over the driver.
In the SSC report, police detailed one bus was traveling south when it hit the back of parked bus that had stopped on the far left side of the road.
The strong impact caused the bus to run over the driver who was crouched down at a rear tire of the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the hit bus dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased has not been released. The official cause for the crash remains under investigation.
