Riviera Maya, Q.R. — During his July 3 regional flyover, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador observed work done on the Merida to Cancun section of Maya Train. Mexico’s president says the section is showing 50 percent progress.
President López Obrador also flew over section 1 that runs from Palenque to Escárcega, section 2, from Escárcega to Calkiní, section 3, from Calkiní to Izamal and 4, from Izamal to Cancún.
“The Mérida-Cancún section of the Mayan Train is 50 percent complete. We continue to face protections and ambitions from conservatives and the corrupt, but the people want and support this great project to promote the development of the southeast of the country.
“One fact: 48,000 tourists arrive in Quintana Roo every day,” he noted in a video he shared on social media.
While in the state, AMLO also took time to review work being done on the Tulum and Chetumal airports, the Jaguar Park in Tulum and the Nichupté Bridge and the remodeling of Colosio Boulevard that has just begun in Cancun.
