Cozumel, Q.R. — An American woman was taken into custody Tuesday after being found in possession of illegal narcotics. Elements of the Public Security Directorate arrested the woman inside the San Miguel pier when she arrived from Playa del Carmen carrying marijuana in her luggage.
In a Wednesday statement, the Seguridad Ciudadana Cozumel reported her arrest “on February 20, at 7:58 a.m. when the Municipal Police, while on their crime prevention tours, received the report from 911 instructing them to move to the San Miguel pier.
“Upon arrival, they interviewed the elements of the Secretary of the Navy on duty at the baggage inspection filters who pointed out that when carrying out inspections through the x-ray machine, they observed a strange object.
“When they searched the suitcase they found a fanny pack which had a ziploc type bag that held a dry herb with the characteristics of marijuana, as well as a metal spice grinder.”
Cozumel police proceeded to arrest 45-year-old Trisha “A” of California. She was taken into custody after being asked “if she had legal permission or authorization to transport or consume said substance, to which she stated that she did not.”
