Police investigating connection of man and woman to bagged body left on Cancun street

Cancun, Q.R. — Two people picked up separately on drug offenses are being investigated in the finding of a bagged body on a Cancun street. On Monday, a body laying in the central media of a residential street was reported to police.

Residents told police the bagged was dumped there Saturday night but no one looked at it until Monday.

The discovery was confirmed by municipal police on Centenario Avenue in Cancun Monday afternoon. The report was made to 9-1-1 around 2:00 p.m. While interviewing area residents, police learned the bag had been placed their late Saturday night by two people on a tricycle.

It was not until Monday afternoon that anyone thought to investigate its contents.

Since the discovery, police used city surveillance cameras to help identify the people residents said they saw dump the bag.

On Tuesday, a man and a woman were arrested in separate incidences in Cancun. Police say they are both being investigated for their possible connection to the dead body left in the middle of the street.

The Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) said in custody is Iván “N,” alias “El Bebo” for drug-related offenses.

“According to the C5 Complex cameras and field investigations, this individual may be involved in the discovery of a body found this Monday near SM 227, as the physical characteristics, belongings, and location (date and time) coincide with the crime,” the SSC reported.

Also on Tuesday, the SSC said Magaly “N,” alias “La Flaca”, was arrested as a suspect in drug-related offenses.

“It should be noted that, according to the C5 Complex cameras and field investigations, this individual may be involved in the discovery of a body found this Monday near Block 227, as the physical characteristics, belongings, and location (date and time) coincide with the crime,” they added.

The SSC did not provide information on if the body found was male or female or comment on a possible cause of death.
