Mahahual, Q.R. — The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office reports an investigation into the dispossession of a property along the Cafetal – Mahahual highway.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office for Patrimonial Crimes ordered the investigation derived from the complaint presented by a civil association who reported that on July 31 of this year, the aggrieved went to the property to carry out cleaning work, but were received by people with machetes who prevented them from entering the site.
The Public Ministry instructed the intervention of Investigative Police who arrived Sunday morning, accompanied by an expert specialized in surveying and photography, to collect evidence that will be integrated into the investigation folder.
While on site, police intended to arrest those illegally occupying the land, however, they chose to withdraw on their own. Police waited for the group to leave, after which time they secured the land and began surveying.
