Police filter out 19 with fevers trying to enter Chetumal public market

Chetumal, Q.R. — Municipal authorities denied entry to 19 people for arriving at a public Chetumal market with high temperatures.

More than a dozen residents were denied entry into the Lázaro Cárdenas public street market Sunday when personnel working the sanitary control filter detected 19 with high temperatures. Quintana Roo Police report the 19 were filtered out in a 9-hour span.

They report that all 19 had temperatures above 37C with seven people registering temperatures between 38C and 39C and another six arriving with detected temperatures above 39C. Authorities also say that 40 people arrived at the public Chetumal market without mouth masks, which was provided to them by police.

The market was open from 5:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All were denied access to the market and its adjacent areas by the Ministry of Public Security.
