Chetumal, Q.R. — Chetumal police continue their search for two men who fired shots at a bar on Boulevard Bahía. At the time of the shooting, two men identified as being active National Guard were taken into custody, however, they have since been released.
The shooting happened in the Barrio Bravo neighborhood when police received reports of shots fired outside the club on Álvaro Obregón Street.
Initally it was believed the two men, both Guardia Nacional personnel, were responsible. The shooting, which did not leave anyone injured, prompted a large operation early Sunday morning.
The two members of the National Guard were travelling in a car and stopped at a checkpoint during the police search operation. One of Guardia Nacional men was carrying a weapon. Both men were arrested.
Sources from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Quintana Roo have since confirmed a permit for the weapon and clarified that they were not the gunmen.

Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security continue with the search operation to find the armed men. Police have not said if they believe the shooting to be random or targeted.
