Mahahual, Q.R. — Despite government recommendations to stay at home, police were on scene at a Mahahual beach where they broke up a group of partygoers.
Police were sent to the beach area of a Mahahual hotel where they found a group of people participating in a beach party. Authorities interrupted the events with a megaphone, telling everyone present to head home due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
While a majority of the people did leave, some stayed. The federal government has implemented a rule that prohibits social events of more than 50 people.
