Police barricade Congress building entrance amid angry protestors

Chetumal, Q.R. — Despite the rain, the entrance of the State Congress building in Chetumal was surrounded by protesters Tuesday. Angry residents began arriving ahead of the 11:00 a.m. Constitutive Session to express their displeasure at legislators who failed to fulfill their commitments.

Protestors hurled eggs at some of the legislators as they arrived and tried to enter the building. Carrying banners, many with photos, they expressed their dissatisfaction at those who failed in their commitments and responsibilities to citizens.

As a result, the governor’s logistics team and the legislative branch agreed to place barricades to keep protestors back and prevent building access. Riot police were on site early Tuesday morning ahead of the session.
