Police arrive to Chetumal car dangling in large sinkhole

Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal driver had his car removed from a sinkhole Saturday after driving into it Friday night. The incident happened on a corner of Universidad Avenue where the driver drove into a marked sinkhole.

The driver was turning onto the Avenue when they accidentally drove into the open hole that was flanked by large industrial cones and marked by a reflective sign.

According to early information, the driver simply failed to notice the orange markers and open hole from where the front of his car was found dangling when police arrived.

Emergency 9-1-1 was made aware of the late night incident that left the driver with minor injuries. The car, on the other hand, was heavily damaged and left for towing until Saturday morning due to the heavy rains.
