Cancun, Q.R. — An operation for the recovery of public spaces was made at Playa Delfines over the weekend. The popular Cancun Hotel Zone beach was stripped of what authorities say, were illegal commercial buildings.
On Sunday morning, members various police associations arrived at the beach where they proceeded to tear down the illegal structures. Playa Delfines is the third beach in Cancun to be stripped of these types of buildings in a bid to ward off illegal activity.
In April, an operation was deployed at Playa Gaviota Azul in Punta Cancún that saw the removal of truck loads of beach furniture along with the destruction of several buildings. In June, another raid was carried out at Playa Tortugas in the Cancun Hotel Zone one day after a second shooting left two dead.
