Paramedics confirm death of Puerto Aventuras taxi driver

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Authorities are investigating the death of a taxi driver found in Puerto Aventuras. Residents who found the man Thursday night initially reported him as being unconscious.

However, medical personnel confirmed his death.

SSC (Secretariat of Citizen Security) police arrived at the scene in response to their finding and requested an ambulance. Paramedics were sent to the Puerto Maya neighborhood where they found him inside his mototaxi parked in Costa de Oro.

Paramedics confirmed that he was not unconscious, but dead. The suspected cause of death was a likely heart attack.

According to residents, the deceased was a local mototaxi driver and known locally. He had just parked in front of his home after work from the Aki supermarket parking lot when he collapsed inside his unit.

The area was cordoned off by local police to allow for the removal of the body. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
