Pair shoot at police unit mistaking it for a private vehicle

Chetumal, Q.R. — Two male subjects were arrested by police after mistaking their unit for a private vehicle. The arrests took place when the pair shot at the police unit, which was traveling without its flashing lights.

In a statement, elements of the Quintana Roo police say while on a surveillance tour at Ucum-La Unión, they were surprised when they were shot at. Repelling fire, police also began a search, which lead to their discovery of the pair behind a highway sign.

The detainees, 49-year-old Jesús N from the state of Guerrero and 19-year-old Eduardo N from Quintana Roo, were found with weapons and ammo. The pair were hiding along the highway shooting at passing vehicles in an attempt to stop and rob them.
