Over 21 million being invested in Chetumal’s Avenida Universidad

Chetumal, Q.R. — With the goal of improving mobility in the capital city, the Ministry of Public Works began the rehabilitation of Avenida Universidad. The much-used road is being repaired due to extensive wear and tear.

The work began Friday. The head of the Ministry of Public Works explained that the project includes the rehabilitation of one lane of Avenida Universidad, from the intersection of Avenida Insurgentes to Avenida Comonfort.

The entire lane will be dug up, refilled, packed and repaved. The project is being done in coordination with the Othón P. Blanco City Council. It is one of the city’s most important roads, connecting schools, work centers, businesses and other key places.

The rehabilitation of the 10.7 thousand square meters will cost around 21.4 million pesos and also include the construction of a sidewalk and addition of storm drains.
