One of two men arrested in Chetumal for the sexual exploitation of minors released

Chetumal, Q.R. — The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has appealed a Chetumal court’s decision to free a man who was arrested for the sexual exploitation of minors.

State prosecutor Oscar Montes de Oca said they made the appeal after a Chetumal judge released the foreign man, who was arrested in June with another man, Javier A.

Both men were arrested in June from the home in Chetumal after a search revealed electronic devices and information storage devices containing child pornography. At the time of their arrests, a total of six children were removed from the home and placed in protective custody.

Montes de Oca said they are hoping to be able to reverse the judge’s decision to free one of the men arrested.

Referring to the unidentified foreigner who was arrested, Montes de Oca explained “unfortunately, the court determined that there were no elements and he was released, however, we have already presented before magistrates who will review that court decision and we hope to have a reversal of that determination,” he said.
