Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — One person was taken to hospital with neck injuries after a public transport van and a private hotel staff bus made contact outside Puerto Aventuras. The accident happened Thursday at 6:50 a.m. when the bus driver made contact with the back of a transport combi.
Preliminary reports say the driver of the public transport van began to slow down to collect additional passengers when the bus hit him from behind.
Paramedics arrived and assessed the three passengers, one of whom, was transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital. Elements of the National Guard took charge of the area until the arrival of tow trucks who were called in to remove both units from the highway.
