Officials announce new 1.7 billion peso specialized medical facility for city of Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — A new 1.7 billion peso medical centre is set for construction in Cancun. The new comprehensive health complex is part of a “50 Doctors Hospital” private investment project.

Governor Mara Lezama says the new specialized facility will boost medical tourism, job creation and economic development.

The hospital is being funded as a private investment to include a general hospital, high-specialty maternal and child hospital and a complex of medical offices. It will also include senior living.

“This private investment, close to 1.75 billion pesos, is the result of confidence in a state that works in an orderly manner, that provides certainty and that generates conditions for development,” she said Thursday night during the presentation.

The governor noted that the project includes benefits for people such as the generation of jobs and a new market for local suppliers.

The project was presented by Javier de Lope, founding partner of 50 Doctors Hospital and its CEO, Jorge Marcos.

The proposed medical facility arises as a strategic response to the growing need to strengthen medical infrastructure in Cancun due to rapid population growth and high demand for specialized healthcare services.

During the Thursday night presentation, they explained that the “50 Doctors” development is an investment of around 1.75 billion pesos. The money includes the construction and equipping of a general hospital, a high-specialty maternal and child hospital, a medical office complex and the Senior Living Alviva.

This project will increase the capacity for medical care in the area, offer specialized health services in modern facilities, generate direct and indirect jobs during its construction and operation and strengthen the private medical infrastructure in the municipality.

During construction, it will generate as many as 800 direct jobs, and during operation, 200 direct and 120 indirect jobs. Indirect beneficiaries will include local suppliers, hotels, airlines, insurance companies and international patients.
