Chetumal, Q.R. — A police officer responding to neighbor reports of a violent family feud ended up injured. Police were called to a private home Friday night in the Caribe residential area of Chetumal.

Police arrived at the home on Avenida Constituyentes del 74 in response to neighbor requests for assistance regarding a “loud and disruptive family argument”.
Upon arriving, police were met with extreme violence by one of the men involved. According to early information, the man rushed toward the officer, injuring him with a knife.
After stabbing the officer, he fled on foot. Additional police were called and a search for the suspect started. Surrounding streets were blocked off while police searched for the man who ran off.
He was found hiding on a rooftop and taken into custody.

The injured police officer was treated at the scene before being transferred to hospital by ambulance. The severity of the officer’s injury is unknown.
