Mahahual, Q.R. — Although drivers have been asked to slow down due to wildlife on highways, hit and runs are still recorded. On Thursday, authorities in Mahahual were called after the finding of a dead Ocelot.
The wild cat was found dead near the coastal area of Mahahual. According to preliminary information, authorities responding to the report said that it showed signs of being hit by a vehicle. Officials did not report any further on the finding of the dead cat.
Ocelots are only one of the many nighttime animals that roam at night, often crossing the busy federal highway. Drivers are being asked to take extreme caution when driving and moderate their speed to prevent these types of accidents.
