Chetumal, Q.R. — A recently repaired section of street in Chetumal has collapsed about 40 cms in depth due to the recent heavy rains.
Two areas in Colonia del Bosque in the state capital city are with sunken streets. The roads were under repair by a company hired by Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado (CAPA) and left unable to bear the weight of the recent downpours.
Calle Comonfort was one of the roads that gave way after a crew ripped it open for the construction of a sanitary drainage system. The damaged area covers 16 meters long by 5 meters wide. Personnel from the contracted company were on site taking measurements and evaluating repair options.
That section of roadway was installed in February, however, the contracted company is still working on another section of Chetumal street where they are adding drains.
