New senior Day Club opens in Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — The town of Puerto Aventuras has opened a Day Club for seniors. The building was inaugurated Tuesday by Soldiaridad Mayor Lili Campos. The Day Club offers seniors a place to go for free arts and crafts classes as well as a quiet reading area.

“You deserve this,” Campos said addressing a group of seniors. “The values that we all have come from our grandparents and that is why we honor, love and admire you and this space is an example of how important you are in this government,” she said during the inauguration.

The Honorary President of DIF Puerto Aventuras, Cuauhtémoc Escobedo Campos, highlighted the great value that has been given to older adults, ensuring they are provided with the support they require with a space focused on meeting the needs of older adults.

Puerto Aventuras Mayor Gilberto Gómez was also part of the ribbon cutting ceremony. The new senior Day Club will offer free courses in crafts, sewing, embroidery, painting and physiotherapy, among others.

Seniors also have a reading and meeting space as well as a kitchen. Playa del Carmen also has its own Cultural, Sports and Recreational Club for Seniors, where the doors are opened daily to 300 seniors.
