Navy officials remove illegal fishing net found during surveillance tour in Chac estuary

Chetumal, Q.R. — Members of the Navy of Mexico have removed an illegal net they found in the Chac estuary. The 35-meter-long net was discovered during a surveillance tour of the channel in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.

During their tour, officials came upon the illegal fishing net that was set up to capture marine life on a large scale. They point out that Article 33 of the Regulation of the Fishing Law prohibits the use of trawl nets in bays and estuaries.
