Chetumal, Q.R. — Two subjects who attempted to smuggle 55 kilograms of marijuana from Campeche to Quintana Roo in a shipment of oranges, were arrested.
The arrests of the two took place after the driver and passenger appeared nervous when being routinely stopped by the National Guard. An inspection of the vehicle ensued, which lead them to the discovery of the drugs.
Elements of the National Guard made the stop at kilometer 202 of the Chetumal-Escárcega highway where they found the blocks of wrapped marijuana hidden in a shipment of oranges. In total, police seize 55.7 kilos of the drug.
