More than 7,000 security personnel deployed around the state for Easter holidays

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — More than 7,000 security personnel have been deployed around the state to serve the 1.2 million expected for Easter. According to Governor Mara Lezama, the security operation will extend through April 27, covering entire Easter holidays.

The operation will cover all 11 municipalities with a total of 7,244 state and municipal personnel, as well as federal forces, the Navy, the Ministry of National Defense and National Guard, who will be at the service of the people, she said.

Governor Lezama stated that during this Easter season, an estimated 1.2 million people will be in Quintana Roo to enjoy the state’s destinations.

“The goal is for them to return home safely but while they are here, to enjoy an extraordinary vacation, one that is more than just sun and beaches. They go to lagoons, cenotes, enjoy the food, the archaeological sites and live with the indigenous peoples,” said Lezama.

The Undersecretary of Citizen Security (SSC) in northern Quintana Roo, Commissioner and Chief Antonio Esteban Peralta Amador, explained that the Secretariat will deploy operations and surveillance patrols throughout the state with the support of highway patrol, preventive police, procedural police, investigative police and response police.

He says 5,560 state and municipal officers will be available across the 11 municipalities to serve and protect citizens and visitors. Of these, 217 are tourist police officers serving the municipalities of Cancun, Cozumel, Othón P. Blanco (Chetumal/Costa Maya), Isla Mujeres and Playa del Carmen.

Peralta Amador said through coordinated efforts among security authorities, gathering points including beaches, nightclubs, bars and restaurants in tourist destinations will be monitored. Preventive patrols, road safety checkpoints and C5 camera monitoring are also planned.

He added that the Navy will have a force of 472 personnel, while the Ministry of National Defense has 233 troops available to deploy. The National Guard has 979 personnel who will be strategically distributed throughout the state. A total of 7,244 personnel will be at the service of the public to successfully carry out this Quintana Roo 2025 Easter Holiday Security Operation.
