More of Cancun’s public transport units targeted

Cancun, Q.R. — Two more public passenger units have been set ablaze in Cancun. Over the weekend, two more units were burned. Preliminary information says the units, which were in a gated shop in SM 65, were intentionally set on fire by a homemade device.

Nearly a dozen of Cancun’s public transport units have been damaged by bullets or fire during the past week. Although several arrests have been made, incidents continue.

The municipal secretary of Public Security for Cancun has said that the city has deployed full forces to deal with the attacks against the public units, adding that meetings have been held and police continue to work with authorities regarding the attacks.

Last week, at least 10 public units were shot at or burned while circulating on Cancun streets. Six people in two separate arrests were taken into police custody, however, the assaults continue.
