Mobile police towers used during Cozumel public events

Cozumel, Q.R. — Municipal Police on the island of Cozumel have installed mobile watch towers in strategic points. The towers are fully equipped and allows officers an extensive field of vision. The towers were recently used to monitor crowds during Dia de Muertos.

“As part of the crime prevention activities, the Public Security Department of Cozumel carries out surveillance operations with watch towers during events with broad citizen participation.

“Equipped with 360-degree camera technology and internal monitors, it allows the operator a very extensive field vision, in addition to the fact that Public Security personnel remain attentive to citizen requests.

“These units have a height of approximately 8 meters and police turrets that remain on as long as they are operating in addition to a long-range light beacon to locate people or some type of activity in the surroundings.

“During the traditional Day of the Dead celebrations, the towers were placed in each of the municipality’s cemeteries to provide security to citizens who visit. They have also been installed alternately in the different fields of the city,” Policia Cozumel reported.
