Missing person identified as body found on Chetumal road

Chetumal, Q.R. — The discovery of a dead body on a public Chetumal roadway has initiated the start of an investigation. Early Saturday morning, city joggers came upon the body of an adult male in a bag.

Next to the body was a threat message left by those believed responsible for the murder. The message was addressed to another criminal group.

The deceased man has been identified as a businessman from the nearby community of Calderitas who was reported missing April 26. The body of 47-year-old Jonathan “B” was found Saturday morning around 5:00 a.m. on Bahía Boulevard.

Six 9 millimeter bullets were collected from the scene.

In a statement, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) of Quintana Roo said “the FGE began an investigation after the report of a lifeless body located this morning on Bahía de Chetumal Boulevard which corresponds to that of a person reported missing on April 26 of this year in this city.

“The Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the State security authorities, is working to find the person or persons responsible for this event.

“The first lines of investigation indicate that this fact could be drug-related, so the test data collected by experts from this autonomous body will be integrated into said folder.”
