Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The head of the Ministry of Health is calling on the general public to be aware of the inefficiency of a rapid COVID test kit that is being sold through social networks.
Alejandra Aguirre Crespo, the Secretaria de Salud del Estado de Quintana Roo, says that many of these fast testing kits are not certified by Cofepris (the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risk) and have a high margin of error, which can lead to false positives.
She explained that laboratories provide conclusive testing with a low margin of error, adding that these false negatives can alter state figures.
