Mahahual, Q.R. — Patrolling military personnel reported seizing over a dozen blocks of suspected marijuana. The blocks were found washed up on a Costa Maya beach Wednesday.
Members of the Mexican Navy seized 15 packages of what is believed to be marijuana during a surveillance operation off the coast of Mahahual.
The orange-wrapped blocks were located entangled in seaweed along the coast. After locating the first block, personnel continued to walk the shore, locating 14 more packages.
A total weight of the finding was not made public, however, authorities did say the source of the blocks are being investigated.

State authorities have seized all 15 packages to investigate where it came from and to where it was destined.
Authorities say they maintain an active presence in the region as part of coordinated actions to inhibit illicit activities.
Operational resources continue to be deployed at various points in the state, including land vehicles, aircraft and maritime units, with the aim of reinforcing surveillance in strategic areas.
