Mexican Navy rescues 60 Chetumal water taxi tourists returning from Belize

Chetumal, Q.R. — Around 60 water taxi tourists were rescued by the navy Wednesday night after their vessel experienced engine trouble. Vessel Eva Bay was returning to Chetumal from San Pedro, Belize during its last run of the evening when it encountered problems.

Mexico’s navy were alerted to the drifting vessel carrying 60 shortly after 9:00 p.m. since rough seas hampered efforts to repair the engine. With constant radio communication, the boat was located in Mexican water and returned to Chetumal.

All 60 on board were transferred to the navy vessel during the boat tow back to land. There were no injuries reported.
