Mayor participates in supervisory work tour of Cancun Maya Train sections

Cancun, Q. R. — Cancun Mayor Ana Patricia Peralta participated in a supervisory work tour of Cancun sections of the Maya Train. Peralta reported that the Maya Train is currently the largest railway under construction in the world.

She said that of the seven sections, two will include Cancun by connecting Cancun with Izamal (section 4) and Playa del Carmen (section 5 north). Peralta recognized that the Cancun Maya Train station will be the largest out of all seven sections.

She said the Cancun station will have 10 platforms, promoting the economic development of the surroundings, but mainly the city. In addition, the Cancun International Airport will connect with four stations.

Along section 4, which will connect Izamal, Yucatan with Cancun, Quintana Roo, the track will run five lanes on approximately 43.3 kilometers of railway.

“From the municipal government we will support expediting the work, committed to one hundred percent with the project,” she said. The entire Maya Train will consist of approximately 1,525 kilometers of railway that will cross the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
