Maya Train test tracks laid along Izamal-Cancún section 4

Maya Train, Q.R. — This week, the assembly of train tracks are underway in section 4 of the Maya Train that will be used to move ballast machines. The arrival of the machines and use of the tracks to move them is being considered a test.

The tracks were laid along the Izamal-Cancún section 4 of the train route. Fonatur reported that as the advancement of the highway and the railway continues in section 4 of the Izamal-Cancun route, the first laying of tracks was laid for the arrival and movement of ballast machines that represent the first resistance tests for sleepers, as well as for the placement of definitive tracks, ballast and fastenings.

In Cancún-Tulum section 5, the reconnaissance of land began in the area of Bahía Príncipe. In addition, the delivery of rails for section 5 south was completed and supply began on section 5 north.

Fonatur also reported that “based on talks and an agreement, it was also determined that the Maya Train transit through section 5 without passing through the urban area of Playa del Carmen so as not to affect third parties or the economic activity of the region.”

The agency said that they estimate maximum production to be reached in May with 1,500 sleepers per day. Materials such as steel, gravel and sand are being purchased from national suppliers, which contributes to greater job creation in the country.
