Man shot in targeted Riviera Maya theme park parking lot identified as having criminal record

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The man killed in a Riviera Maya theme park parking lot Thursday has been identified. During the targeted attack, 36-year-old Luis Enrique H.A. was gunned down. He was hit by a spray of bullets and died shortly afterward in hospital.

Luis H.A. has been identified as a national tourist from Culiacán, Sinaloa. He had arrived at the park earlier that day with a large group of people. When exiting the park, he was targeted by a man on a motorcycle who was able to successfully flee the area.

Reports say he was hit several times by the shooter while getting into a waiting taxi. The taxi driver, identified as 43-year-old Faustino N, was injured. He was hit in the leg by one of the bullets and transferred to hospital for treatment.

Police reportedly collected five .9mm shell casings from the scene of the 6:00 p.m. parking lot shooting. The now-deceased is reported to have had a criminal record that involved carrying a firearm, possession of drugs and having multiple identities.
