Man arrested for allegedly skimming more than two million from association over four years

Chetumal, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports that Investigative Police assigned to the Apprehension Unit have captured Marcelo O for robbery to the detriment of a civil association.

The first acts of investigation indicate that Marcelo O is alleged to have diverted more than two million peso for his personal economic benefit from a civil association between 2015 and 2019. In 2020, the association filed an official complaint accusing the now-detained of taking advantage of his employment relationship with the aggrieved party.

The complaint was filed in 2020 by a representative of the association and its members, indicating the probable participation of the accused and other people. After a first investigation, a judge issued an arrest warrant for Marcelo O.

The FGE says Marcelo O was detained by agents inside his home in the Bicentenario neighborhood of Chetumal. In compliance with a search warrant for his arrest, he was transferred to the Chetumal Social Reintegration Center.
