Man already serving time handed another 25 years for homicide

Chetumal, Q.R. — A man who has been imprisoned 14 years for robbery has been handed another 25 year sentence. Raúl Gustavo “N” has been ordered to remain jailed for the next two decades for aggravated homicide.

According to a statement, “Raúl Gustavo “N” received corporal punishment for events that occurred on January 2, 2010, in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco. The State Attorney General’s Office obtained a conviction of 25 years, 7 months, 3 days in prison for aggravated homicide within the criminal case filed in the Traditional System.”

Police initiated a preliminary investigation for events that occurred on January 2, 2010, in a tenement building located in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood in Chetumal when the now convicted man, along with two other subjects, caused injuries with a knife to the victim. With a block they also hit his head, depriving him of his life, they reported.

In a hearing, a criminal judge issued a guilty verdict against Raúl Gustavo “N” with a prison sentence and a fine. In their statement, police said “this is the second conviction for Raúl Gustavo “N”. The first was for the crime of aggravated robbery, because prior to the 2010 homicide, in December 2009, he entered the victim’s house with other subjects from where they stole various valuable objects.
