Mahahual beach club says they have permanently closed their doors due to insecurity

Mahahual, Q.R. — A seaside restaurant in the town of Mahahual says they have shut down for good due to insecurity. On Tuesday, El Faro Restaurant and Beach Club announced their permanent closure.

“Beach Club El Faro closes its doors,” the company posed on their social media February 3.

The long time business said their decision to permanently close their doors was due to “external circumstances that put our safety and that of our team at risk.” Their decision to close was made to “prioritize what is most important: the lives and well-being of our families and employees,” they said.

“To our beloved community, customers, friends, and family of Beach Club El Faro: Today we must share one of the most difficult decisions we have ever had to make.

“After much thought and with heavy hearts, we want to inform you that Beach Club El Faro is closing its doors permanently.

El Faro Restaurant and Beach Club in Mahahual has permanently closed February 3, 2026.

“This project was born from the dream of creating a space of joy, good food, togetherness, and unforgettable moments by the sea. Thanks to you, that dream became a reality. Every visit, every recommendation, and every word of support meant so much to us.

“Unfortunately, the decision to close is not due to a lack of affection from the public or a lack of work, but rather to external circumstances that put our safety and that of our team at risk.

“Given this situation, we have decided to prioritize what is most important: the lives and well-being of our families and employees.

The company said they closed to ensure the welfare of their families and employees February 3, 2026.

“It is not an easy goodbye, but it is a responsible decision. We leave with our heads held high, deeply grateful for all the support you always gave us and for every moment shared in this place we love so much.

“Thank you for believing in us, for being there for us, and for understanding. Beach Club El Faro will always be a part of our story. With respect and gratitude, The Beach Club El Faro Family,”
