López Obrador tests Covid-19 positive for third time

Mexico City, Mexico — Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has tested positive for Covid-19 for the third time. López Obrador made the information public on his twitter account Sunday.

“I tested positive for COVID-19. It’s not serious. My heart is 100 and, since I had to suspend the tour, I am in Mexico City (…) Adán Augusto López Hernández will lead the morning sessions. See you soon.”

López Obrador was in Quintana Roo this weekend as part of his regular southern tours to supervise progress of his Maya Train project. After learning he tested positive, AMLO cut his visit short and returned home to Mexico City where he remains in isolation.

In a public statement April 23, the Government of Mexico reported “Although it is not serious and his heart is in optimal condition, the President suspended the tour of the Mexican southeast where he was supervising the progress of the Maya Train and returned to Mexico City to remain in isolation.”

It is the third time AMLO has tested positive for Covid-19.
