Late night walkers spot man’s body floating near Puerto Juárez

Cancun, Q.R. — The coroner was called in Monday night to remove a body found floating off Puerto Juárez. The discovery was reported by local residents who saw the body floating near a dock.

Area residents were out for a late night walk when they saw what they believed was a floating body. Elements of the Municipal and State Police responded to their 9-1-1 report to confirm the sighting.

The body of an adult male was seen floating in the water in the vicinity of the mainland ferry terminal.

Authorities confirmed the sighting and proceeded to cordon off the area. Memebers of the FGE arrived to remove the body.

Police have not said if the man is believed to be a drowning victim or the result of another form of death. The identity of the person and approximate age are not known.

On Sunday night, a young man was reported missing off the coast of Playa del Carmen after failing to return from a swim. His body was found off a central Playa del Carmen beach early Monday morning.
