Chetumal, Q.R. — One person was taken to Chetumal hospital Thursday from an LP gas explosion. The explosion happened in the kitchen of a home on Pino Suarez Street.

Firemen and Civil Protection were some of the first responders at the home Thursday afternoon in response to neighbor reports. Inside the house they found the force of the blast had blown the stove and kitchen sink off the wall.
A 10 liter gas tank was also found near the stove inside the kitchen.
Paramedics were called to treat one person who was found suffering burns during the explosion. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause.

In a briefing, the Coordinación Estatal de Protección Civil Quintana Roo said “A report was received of a gas tank explosion at a residence located on Pino Suarez Street in Chetumal.
“Emergency crews responded to the scene, where paramedics transported one injured person to the General Hospital of this city, where they are reported to be out of danger.
“Firefighters and Civil Protection personnel worked to eliminate hazards in the area.”
