Cancun, Q.R. — The Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) says a Polish citizen who remains detained in Cancun filed an amparo that prevented his deportation. The man filed the legal paperwork in order to avoid being deported to Poland.
According to the INM, Polish citizen Filip Roger “Z” arrived at the Cancun International Airport on April 22, 2022, from Panama. When reviewing his documents and entering his data into the Comprehensive Immigration Operation System (SIOM), it revealed that he had a Red File from Interpol from August of 2021, for which reason he was not admitted into the country.
The following day, “Z” filed an Amparo before the Fourth District Court in the state of Quintana Roo against his deportation. He remained in the transit room of the airport until September 1, 2022, when he was transferred to the Provisional Stay of Cancun for better living conditions while his case is being resolved.
The INM says at this time, there are only two foreigners in the facilities.
The Fourth Court set April 4, 2023 as the date for the constitutional hearing, which was carried out as planned. Immigration authorities continue to wait for the Court to issue the resolution.
