INM detains 3 in Tulum found working illegally

Tulum, Q.R. — Immigration officials have arrested three people of foreign nationalities they found working in Tulum without permits. The three foreigners were arrested by INM (Instituto Nacional de Migración) officers Friday during an operation.

INM officers, escorted by police, made random visits to businesses where, at the end of the day, they located and detained three foreigners found working without the proper permits to do so.

Two of the detained were found working illegally in the coastal area, while the third was arrested in the town’s center.

For several weeks, INM officers have been conducting random checks on its foreign residents. In January, officers patrolled Playa del Carmen streets in search of illegal residents. In June of 2019, immigration officers arrested eight illegal foreigners they found on public transportation between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
