Cancun, Q.R. — After a verified report of family violence, the director of Municipal Transit in Cancun was dismissed from his position. In a statement, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Security Rubén Oyarvide Pedrero, reported the dismissal of the director of Cancun Municipal Transit Jaime Joel Lira Cetina.
He reported that Lira Cetina was dismissed from his duties Monday “due to unacceptable conduct of a personal nature, far from the principles of this institution.”
His dismissal came after an Emergency 911 call was made by his wife over the weekend. Police from the Specialized Group for Attention to Intrafamily Violence of Cancun attend to the domestic violence report, at which time the husband, Lira Cetina, was arrested.
Rubén Oyarvide Pedrero said these types of acts are reprehensible and unacceptable. “Respect and care for women are a priority of this institution and we have the precise instruction not to accept a single act to their detriment.”
He also stressed that they will cooperate with the State Attorney General’s Office in the corresponding investigation.
