Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Grocery store chain Chedraui says they intend to open nearly 150 new locations in 2026. The company says they are anticipating a 3 to 4% growth increase this year.

The outlook for 2026 points to a continuation of the 2025 results of moderate growth, said Antonio Vasconcelos, Deputy CEO of Grupo Chedraui. The strategy is to grow faster than inflation, capitalize on key seasons and execute efficiently, he explained.

“2026 is a year in which maximizing the opportunities offered by the seasons will be a key factor in achieving our growth.” he noted. “It is a year in which leveraging our commercial strategy will be very important.”

Chedraui projects its already-established stores will grow between 3% and 4%, while the grocery sector as a whole will grow by 4.3%.

Grupo Chedraui says they are focused on Mexico with an expansion plan that includes the opening of 147 new stores. It will be one of the most significant deployments in the self-service sector in the country.

Growth will be driven by different retail formats with a strong focus on smaller stores.

The plan includes nine Chedraui stores and seven Super Chedraui as well as 130 Supercito and one Arteli store. Although the main growth focus is Mexico, Chedraui will also continue its growth in the United States with new openings. They include four El Super stores and Fiesta store.

The company anticipates a challenging start to the year, although it expects a recovery toward the second half  supported by operational improvements and cost control.
