Riviera Maya, Q.R. — “It must be very clear that the productive takeoff does not imply lowering our guard. It is not about rushing or relaxing discipline. Please stay home until you have to leave,” Governor Carlos Joaquín exhorted during his message where he announced part of the Reactivate Quintana Roo Plan.
Carlos Joaquín says that the official presentation will be made Tuesday, noting that in the meantime, the main goal of the strategy is to reactivate social and economic activities while avoiding crowds and slowing the spread of the virus and its consequent impact on production.
“Today, we are fully entering the new normal. In the case of Quintana Roo, the fundamental sectors are tourism, construction, economic activities in the countryside and along the coast, and, of course, transportation. I want to emphasize that in our plan, tourism is recognized as a fundamental sector of the Quintana Roo economy.”
The Governor of Quintana Roo commented that all sectors will be opened gradually, orderly and safely, but they must comply with established protocols for healthy distances, a workforce of no more than 30 percent and the application of rapid tests.
The Quintana Roo president emphasized that in the “Reactivate Quintana Roo Plan”, a traffic light system with the four colors will be established and be linked to economic reopenings according to the alert level.
The Governor of Quintana Roo commented that contagion risk is also measured, not only for each sector, but also for each economic activity and with this, the level of opening of the sector is defined depending on the risk for its workers and clients.
Carlos Joaquín commented that during the first week of June, everyone should know and implement the protocols.
“Only workers in essential activities will be allowed to join their work centers. Those who are not in this case should stay at home, without excuses, including people from vulnerable groups.”
Carlos Joaquín says that beginning June 8, gradual reopenings will be made depending on the traffic light colors for each region. This will be officially made public online.
“Due to the responsibility that I have as governor of the state, I want to be very clear with you. Starting this stage does not mean that we will be able to return to the reality that existed before the pandemic. On June 8, the virus will remain with us. There is still no vaccine that allows us to fully protect ourselves from contagion,” he noted.
